Being cheap

Since it was a freebie, we visited the Frist Art Center again this last week...it was Ms. Cheap day...
she spoke and answered questions, we had the special $5 lunch at the Cafe (we have eaten there before and it has always been good) and viewed the Tiffany lamp collection that is there until the end of August. We had a great "date". (Whenever you are with your best friend, it is always a great date:)!

On Wednesday we attended the Williamson county fair, since it was Southern Gospel music concert that night. The Legacy Five was playing, and we enjoy their music. We heard them years ago when they first started. Again, we were cheap and got a free coupon online, so we paid $6 for fair and music concert!

Just an observation: In addition to the great activities we have found ourselves at, we appreciate the people here. When we got our license plates here, we got the Vietnam veteran plates. A young person (20's) at the fair noticed them and thanked Paul for his service. This has happened numerous times in the past 5 months. It is such a different culture here, one of caring and observing; one of the reasons we thank the Lord for bringing us here!

Staying Young

Last week was our last commitment for the summer. I attended the Royal Family Kids Camp as a craft helper. What a unique opportunity to serve the Lord by serving his little children. Romans 8:38 was the theme verse, "NOTHING! shall EVER separate me from the love of God". What a comfort for these kids to know that God is there for them always...they just need to accept Him! All 32 campers knew the verse by the end of the week. I know of at least two campers that accepted the Lord during the week. It was a nonstop week with lots of activities, songs and a couple of special speakers. Besides working in crafts, we gave the counselors a break in the evening. The day the girls made their bug catchers, we needed to go out after dark to find something to put in these new homes....toads were the easiest to catch, so each got their own pet, but only with a lot of screaming and with the help of the boys!

Paul was originally scheduled to help with woodworking, but he was not really needed there, and the Lord had other plans for him.... he flew to Phoenix and drove with Nathan as he moved out here. They had a great experience traveling along Route 66, stopping to see antique stores, the crosses on I-40 in Texas, Oklahoma City bombing site, chasing geocaches, seeing a coiled rattler as big as Paul's arm (who knows how long!), meeting the oldest independent candidate running for president (in person!), and Nate's toes getting nibbled through the tent by raccoons! Sounds like too much fun for me!

Beginning this week, we have no company coming, and no commitments, our calendar is so empty! I feel like we are truly retired, lazy, old folk! I will have to fix that and come up with something before we get bored!!
