Staying Young

Last week was our last commitment for the summer. I attended the Royal Family Kids Camp as a craft helper. What a unique opportunity to serve the Lord by serving his little children. Romans 8:38 was the theme verse, "NOTHING! shall EVER separate me from the love of God". What a comfort for these kids to know that God is there for them always...they just need to accept Him! All 32 campers knew the verse by the end of the week. I know of at least two campers that accepted the Lord during the week. It was a nonstop week with lots of activities, songs and a couple of special speakers. Besides working in crafts, we gave the counselors a break in the evening. The day the girls made their bug catchers, we needed to go out after dark to find something to put in these new homes....toads were the easiest to catch, so each got their own pet, but only with a lot of screaming and with the help of the boys!

Paul was originally scheduled to help with woodworking, but he was not really needed there, and the Lord had other plans for him.... he flew to Phoenix and drove with Nathan as he moved out here. They had a great experience traveling along Route 66, stopping to see antique stores, the crosses on I-40 in Texas, Oklahoma City bombing site, chasing geocaches, seeing a coiled rattler as big as Paul's arm (who knows how long!), meeting the oldest independent candidate running for president (in person!), and Nate's toes getting nibbled through the tent by raccoons! Sounds like too much fun for me!

Beginning this week, we have no company coming, and no commitments, our calendar is so empty! I feel like we are truly retired, lazy, old folk! I will have to fix that and come up with something before we get bored!!
