New Roads
Well, we are taking it easy today, but the road did beckon, and we took another ferry ride to a small town across the river from St. Francisville, named New Roads. It was started in 1699 and in 1722, the Mississippi River broke off and there is a crescent shaped body of water they call False River, which the town is beside. This river just goes where and when it wants, moving all of the time!
(Check out the history by clicking on New Roads!) We found a restaurant right on the lake, and had a great relaxing lunch of shrimp and corn chowder and fried mini meat pies, and shared a piece of bourbon pecan pie for dessert. How native can you get?
We passed this little area, and I just had to take a picture! It is called the quarters!
