Back to Louisianna

We finally got out of town on Friday, almost two weeks later than expected. But that is okay, since delaying our trip we got our car registration renewals and we needed to have smog check before May 31. Fortunately, we had the jeep repaired, otherwise it would not have passed. So we left home with rain, thunder, lightening and flood warnings! We soon left it all behind (I understand it was still going last night!) and drove about 250 miles to the Jeff Busby campground along the Natchez Trace. We decided rather than going on the interstate, we would take the more leisurely Trace... and I would drive... for an hour anyway:) Poor Paul, he was still in pain from the double root canal he had on Thursday.
Along the way, through MS, there was a sweet, jasmine like smell along the road, coming from bushes with clumps of white flowers....could be wild lilac! It is warmer and more humid than TN has been! We are in the south now! We got to our second night's stop, Green Acres, (yes I am serious) mid-afternoon Saturday, yesterday, after taking only one wrong turn. Those wrong turns, though always lets us see some more beautiful countryside.
We are in St. Francisville, LA, just north of Baton Rouge, for a week. I chose this area because of the state historic sites close by. Louisiana has the best state parks and sites! We were planning on staying at their state parks but the closest was about one and a half hours away, closer to New Orleans. Since we left later than anticipated, we will not have time to explore New Orleans this trip. So this morning we will explore this town and see if we can find a church to go to.

Glad to see you are on the road and all is well with you, except the little tooth problem that Paul has. Be a man Paul. Root canal? No problem! Be sure to keep notes on the trip because the guys are still going down "The TRace" again this summer. While the girls are at camp, we jump on the motorcycles and ride. We are going to miss you and look forward to your return. Tegan will be here about the time you return.
